Greetings to you in the name of Jesus and Happy New Year!
As The Leadership Institute launches into this new year, we wanted to provide you with an update on where we sense God leading us in 2020 and beyond.
During the last few years, God has matured TLI from a retreat-based training organization to a worldwide discipling community. We currently have pockets of alums connecting together on various rhythms, both in groups and through 1+1 relationships. We’ve become a community of disciplers all learning from one another.
The quarterly Discipler’s Journal is a new resource we are introducing. We’ll have A TLI Update section where you’ll hear from our Executive Director, Troy Walling (that’s me), or our President and Founder, Paul Jensen, each quarter regarding our ministry happenings. Troy and Paul will also publish a short post of encouragement for your own reflection in this section.
Additionally, you’ll find an ever-increasing number of useful articles, testimonies, published training events, videos, etc. as we develop this journal over time. You’ll find these resources and events listed under the Community and Practice sections in the right-hand column.
We are always on the lookout for new resources in the form of blog posts, articles, webinars, video training series, etc. If you’d like to contribute, drop me a line! Even if you don’t contribute, let us know what you would find helpful in your spiritual journey.
Our goal in 2020 (now entering our 4th decade of ministry!) is to follow God’s lead into more intentionally developing this community platform. You see, nearly everyone who completes The Journey has said at the end of the two-year training process, “I don’t want this to end!” We’ve also heard time and time again, “I have nowhere to go to stay encouraged in what I’ve learned and to keep growing.” Most organizations pay very little attention to the role of spiritual formation in leadership, organization transformation, or even in what it means to live a Jesus lifestyle. Many of our alums feel alone in their faith journey.
What has happened with TLI over the last few years is that a community of like-minded alums from all around the world have intentionally decided to stay journeying together so they can pray for one another and keep learning from each other. This arose quite organically and unexpectedly and is a clear work of the Holy Spirit. We are calling this community TLI’s Disciipling Community of Practice and it’s just that: a community of people who keep practicing and growing as disciplers.
Whether you are a Journey alum or not, we hope you’ll join our online platform and begin to interact with us as this community grows. We’ll be letting you know about various resources and opportunities to help you keep learning as they are developed.
Whether you’ve been through our training or have received email and resources from us simply by visiting our website, we are glad you’re here. We hope we can connect with you in some way in 2020!
