Isaiah 9:6 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
6?For a child has been born for us,
a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders;
and he is named
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
We have hoped against hope for our Lord to come. And now He is here! We?ve awakened, but our dream lives on. Reality has pierced our sleep.
Christmas Lives
A child is born. Spoken alive. A living gift. Look at him. Such wispy features, tiny nose, shining curious eyes, and lax, dewy hair. So tender and slight, but great. Yes, He is great already. Littleness secrets His majesty. We know Him the moment our eyes alight. Wonderful Counselor and Mighty God. He is our dear Father, Mother, brother and sister, too. Friend of Peace, and our friend. We are born. Spoken alive. A living gift. His eyes regard us in love. Such wispy features, tiny nose, curious shining yes, and lax, dewy hair. So tender and slight, but great. Yes, we are great already. Littleness secrets our majesty. We forget the moment our eyes see the world and all that dwells within. We build and go farther, faster, ever-searching. Forgetting peace, and friendship, too. Suddenly we know Him the moment our eyes alight. Wonderful Counselor and Mighty God. He is our dear Father, Mother, brother and sister, too. Friend of Peace, and our friend. Littleness secrets His majesty. So tender and slight, but great. He is great still. Such wispy features, tiny nose, shining curious eyes, and lax, dewy hair. A child is born. Spoken alive. A living gift. Look at him.
