On the way to the Cross.
Anguish.
Sorrow. Suffering.
Jesus, it is so hard to grasp all you suffered for me.
I come up so short.
The wonder of all You have done and continue to do for me.
The cross is central. What I must never forget.
You went there. Willingly. Always other-centered.
You went for everyone. For me.
You were following the will of your Father.
And as You say, our Father. My merciful Father in heaven.
You made us family.
You entrusted Yourself to God.
His will. His care.
It was painful. Humiliating.
You were misunderstood. Not seen or known.
Except by Your faithful, loving Father.
As He knows and sees me.
The powers of heaven and earth at Your command.
You stood silent. Accused.
Innocent. Pure.
The Bright Morning Star.
Abandoned and abused by men.
Jeered at. Mocked. Beaten. Spit upon. Beaten and whipped.
The unraveled, unmasked heart of mankind, for all to see, in action.
The ugliness. The fear.
The grasping for power and control.
Angels watched. Horror and grief.
Pilate let the condemned man go and
surrendered You to the will of the people.
You allowed yourself to be surrendered.
But it was to Your Father You were, always are, committed to.
My example.
Oh, how I fall short.
You, my good Shepherd, prayed.
Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.
Grace. Always Grace.
And they crucified You.
The perfect Lamb of God.
Pondering all God does for you, what is going on in your own life, we are invited to look to the Father, as Jesus did.
Read prayerfully through the Psalm below. Open your heart and let it speak to your soul.
I look up to the mountains and hills, longing for Gods help.
But then I realize that our true help and protection
come only from the Lord,
our Creator who made the heavens and the earth. He will guard and guide me, never letting me stumble or fall.
God is my keeper; He will never forget nor ignore me.
He will never slumber nor sleep;
He is the Guardian-God for His people, Israel.Jehovah Himself will watch over you;
He's always at your side to shelter you safely in His presence.
He's protecting you from all danger both day and night.
He will keep you from every form of evil or calamity
as He continually watches over you.You will be guarded by God Himself.
You will be safe when you leave your homeand safely you will return.
He will protect you now,and He'll protect you forevermore!
Psalm 121
