?But blessed are those who trust in the LORD,?whose confidence is in him.??They will be like a tree planted by the water?that sends out its roots by the stream.?It does not fear when heat comes;?its leaves are always green.?It has no worries in a year of drought?and never fails to bear fruit.? (Jeremiah 17:7-8)
I wish reading verse 8 was like looking in a mirror-image of myself, but that?s not reality. My life is much more a mix. The questions this passage raised for me, and that I hope might be helpful questions for you today were these:
- If I really were a tree, in what ways would I actually look like the description in verse 8 these days? And in what ways am I feeling dry, uprooted or unfruitful?
- If I?m not feeling very blessed, where might my confidence be focused, other than in the Lord?
How might the Lord be inviting me to places of greater boldness and courage that is rooted in Him, and not in myself, my resources or capabilities, or anything else in all creation?
