?His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the speed of a?runner; ?but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love (Ps 147:10-11 NRSV).?
The Lord is not watching for how much horsepower I produce or how fast I can run. God takes pleasure in a simple posture of deep-rooted reverence and fixed hope in the stability of his love. My hope is not in how I will perform in my speaking, training or mentoring ministries. My hopelessness might find its source there, but not my hope. My hope is in a love that will not give up or let go of me. Remember!
And too often when my horsepower strategies don?t go as well as I expected, my answer is more horsepower. God isn?t impressed by the things that impress us. God takes notice of our reverent, hopeful response to his unfailing love.
