We live in a world where people often seem to be bored with life?seeking something new and exciting to stimulate them.
As followers of Jesus, we have access to a reality that is rich, wise, and beyond our searching or fathoming.
Just listen to Paul:
Romans 11:33-36 NRSV, ?O?the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgements and how inscrutable his ways! ? ?For who has known the mind of the Lord???Or who has been his counsellor?? ? ?Or who has given a gift to him,??to receive a gift in return?? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory for ever. Amen.?
I wrote this in my journal as a prayerful response to these powerful lines:
?O. I love that smallest of words. O. It is an expression of awe and wonder. Overwhelm my heart with your generosity, your wise counsel and your deep knowing, Father. May I be more overwhelmed by you than I am by my circumstances or responsibilities. Instead of burdening me, you overwhelm me with awe, with joy, with gratitude.
You do not need my advice. I need yours. You do not need my counsel. I need yours. You do not need anything that I can give you. Everything is in you, from you, for you. Whatever glory there is to be had is in you.
I love you, Father. You?ve been very good to me. Let my mind and heart rest in a profound awakeness to your goodness. May goodness win over my every negative and false belief. May I live in your energy, your joy, your peace, your confidence, your life today. I need these things and recognize them to be a gift you give and not a wage I have earned.
Come, Holy Spirit, and fill my whole being. I welcome all that you are into my body, my mind, my heart, my spirit. I need you more than I know how to say. Amen.?
