Rise and Fall
Rise and come to Me, I hear
A sweet, compelling Voice
An invitation, a command
An order, yet a choice
Beliefs are only stepping stones
A perch to glimpse the land
Hope will launch us, longing calls us
Beyond the place we stand
What is for Real, I do not know
Or will I ever, Lord?
And is my faith enough for You
To keep me in the Cord?
This deeper place, this shadow-land
Though dark, is full of Light
A paradox, as is my soul
In weakness and in might
If You are what I'm searching for
Then may I ever look
The constancy of God with me
Is more than by the book
Be my Mirror, Guide, and Gift
Be my All-in-All
I know You'll lead me on, and yet
I'm still afraid to fall
"Then shall the fall further the flight in me." George Herbert
